Why

?
As boaters (no matter if power or sail), we love the ocean! We enjoy undisturbed nature, we cherish a clean bay at anchor, the sight of marine wildlife exhilarates us. But our favourite hobby has a lasting impact on the environment we love so much. The past years have seen a substantial push for more sustainable solutions, from factory provided solar options on deck to water filtration systems to recyled sail materials.
But still:
-
In the EU alone, every year, approx. one billion one-way bottles are used on board of recreational craft for drinking water.
-
In the EU alone, every year, millions of litres of not environmentally friendly antifouling are painted on the hulls of recreational crafts.
-
In the EU alone, each year hundred thousands of boats reach end-of-life and are scrapped, often without useful recycling options.
-
The emissions and pollution of and by combustion engines like off-gas, fuel and oil leakages, air- and underwater noise etc. are pratically not quantifiable
-
... and the list goes on.

NauticBlu Alliance will…
-
motivate industry to develop more ecologic friendly and affordable products and will present these,
-
challenge marinas, charter- and service providers to offer affordable eco-friendly services and infrastructure,
-
motivate boaters to use more sustainable options to protect and preserve the marine environment,
-
offer technical and organisational expertise to support policy-making bodies, NGO and NPO in the marine sector to collaboratively move forward together in a more environmentally friendly direction,
-
offer a possibility for direct cooperation and collaboration between the boating community, interested in maintaining recreational boating while leaving the smallest possible footprint on marine environments - and industry and service providers.
